Long gone are the days of synthetic wigs that have to be worn as is, there was no way a synthetic wig would tolerate any heat at all… it would simply melt.  With the introduction of the high heat tolerant synthetic wig and toppers there is a whole new rule book as to how to best care for your high heat synthetic wigs and toppers.

In the case of the Techno Fibre, they actually REQUIRE HEAT to remain looking their aboslute best.  The Techno Fibres and other wigs with very high heat tolerant fibres love having heat applied – it smooths and seals the fibres beautifully.

Techno Fibre Wigs and High Heat Fibres are made using super fine fibres which do respond best with regular combing and heat applications

The Top 5 Tips For High Heat Wigs will guide you through how to prolong and ensure your beautiful wigs stay looking their best for the longest possible time.

1. Regular Combing Through

Due to the nature of the fibre itself, a very high heat tolerant synthetic wig will have a thinner fibre, making the end result a softer, more natural feeling wig.

There is a tendancy for finer hair/fibres to tangle easier and be prone to a high reaction to even heat from skin.  This is the reason why shorter wigs are deemed easier to maintain than longer wigs.  There is less area of wig touching your skin and therefore the level of area affected by tangling is reduced.

A simple and very effective way to avoid your wig havig any issues with tangling,  and potentially matting is to do the first tip for high heat synthetic fibre care.  Comb after each wear

We use and recommend a wide tooth comb and prior to placing your synthetic wig on a mannequin head so she’s ready for your next wear, comb the wig starting from the ends and working your way up.

ALWAYS do this step prior to any washing of your synthetic wig.

RUN A WIDE TOOTH COMB THROUGH YOUR WIG AFTER EACH WEAR.

2. Your Wig LOVES Heat

Yep … you’ve read this right… apply heat to your high heat synthetic wigs.

We recommend doing a strand test to ensure that your wig can tolerate the heat level you intend using…. and find that 150 degrees suits most of the new high heat synthetic wigs.

Due to the finer nature of the very high heat synthetic wigs with the fibres being thinner/finer and softer to touch, they need high heat applications to keep them smoothed and looking lovely.

Without the addition of regular heat onto these fibres you run the risk of your wig frizzing just like human hair does.  Like human hair when you apply heat the hair smooths out and looks 100% better.

3. How Your Wear Your Wig Affects Longevity

How you wear your wig will impact on the longevity and how your wig stays looking her best.  When placing your wig on always place her low down on your forehead (near your eyebrows) so you can gently pull her back into place from the back.  This makes sure the delicate lace sits flat and hasn’t had any stress placed on it when you put the wig on.

Never put anything on your head like glasses, sunglasses, even hats as this is the. main cause for fibres being pulled out of your wig, especially around the front area.

Having good wig wearing habits definitely prolong the life of your wig and impacts on how the wig looks.

4. Washing & Lots of Conditioner

5. Storing Your Wig

Regular washing will help keep your high heat synthetic wig looking and feeling  great.  Always comb through prior to washing and throughout the washing process – you may like to take a look at the washing video on this website for additional tips.

Always use lots of conditioner and allow the conditioner to sit on the wig for a while before washing off.  This is the food for your wig’s fibres.

When you’re not wearing your wig we recommend placing her onto a head (styrofoam or mannequin) as the ideal way to keep her form looking it’s best.

If you don’t have a head, any round shape will be fine.  When traveling always place some filler into the middle of the cap (undies work great) and place her into a silk bag so the fibres do not rub and stay smoothed.
